The water runs across them, continually performing a change upon the objects represented through the play of light on the surface of the water. A hand reaches into the water to take a stone out and it becomes different again in size, shape, texture and detail. Impressions are continually effaced by subsequent ones, no one image being the ‘correct’ or stable rendering of the object.
